Giving Back
“Men and Women for Others” is a motto that has stayed with me since my time at Boston College, my alma mater. It reflects the belief that we are called to use our talents, education, and opportunities to serve the common good and help others.
In continuing with that spirit, a portion of every sale will be donated to charitable organizations that support children and families.
Each of the organizations below represents something a little different to me:
Supporting children's emotional and mental well-being
Empowering the autism community
And strengthening families right here on Long Island.
Together, they reflect a belief at the heart of A Star Shining Bright:
Every child deserves the opportunity to keep growing, keep believing in themselves, and keep shining.
If one of these missions speaks to you, I invite you to learn more about their work or consider supporting them directly.
Together, We Spark Wow
Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation For Autism
Helping People and Families with Autism
Live Life to the Fullest
The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism is dedicated to helping people and families affected by autism live life to the fullest. The Foundation supports programs and initiatives that promote inclusion, independence, opportunities, and meaningful participation in the community.
Why I chose them: This organization connects two very personal parts of my life. As a Boston College alumna, the Flutie name holds a special place in the history and spirit of my alma mater. As a mother of neurodivergent children, and specifically one with an ASD diagnosis, the Foundation's commitment to celebrating individuals with autism and helping them reach their fullest potential makes its mission especially meaningful to me.
Child Mind Institute
All children deserve support to thrive.
The Child Mind Institute is an independent nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders. Through care, education, and research, they work to help children get the support they need to thrive.
Why I chose them: The heart of A Star Shining Bright is about navigating big feelings, moving through difficult moments, and learning to believe in yourself again. I wanted to support an organization whose mission reaches children with many different needs and challenges, because every child deserves to feel understood, supported, and empowered to keep shining.
Nassau / Suffolk Autism Society of America (NSASA
THE CONNECTION IS YOU.™
The Nassau/Suffolk Autism Society of America (NSASA) supports individuals with autism and their families throughout Long Island by providing inclusive social, recreational, and educational opportunities and creating spaces where families can connect and feel supported.
Why I chose them: Long Island is home. It's where I grew up, and where I'm raising my family. Supporting NSASA gives me an opportunity to give back directly to children and families in my own community while supporting a mission centered around inclusion, acceptance, connection, and celebrating people for exactly who they are.
